Rolling the Cornish Cameras
Literature can be as unpredictable as the Cornish coast; weather dependant, walking boots preferable, and the potential of a cliff hanger. Writers are inspired to paint Cornwall on a piece of paper, to portray a Cornwall that all visitors have experienced on their journey to the south-west.
If Alfred Hitchcock is Neil Armstrong, then Polperro was his moon. Better known for his directing of Psycho (1960) and Vertigo (1958), Hitchcock became the first to capture Cornwall from behind a lens, with his work on 'The Manxman' (1929), enchanting the audience to a silent, black and white perception of the Cornish south coast. Cornwall soon became an inspiration to film makers and watchers alike.
